Hello, I am Noah Renken-Kapatos!
Currently I serve as a College Lecturer at Illinois State University, a Continuing Education Instructor at Heartland Community College, Music Composer, Performing Musician, Recording Artist, Freelance Audio Engineer / Music Producer, and as a Private and Group Music Instructor at Hip Cat Music School.
At Illinois State University I teach CTK: 204 - Music Foundations for the School of Creative Technologies. This course is designed to teach fundamental music theory concepts through the piano roll of a DAW instead of a traditional piano, touches on key developments in contemporary music history (1980s-Present), and teaches how to properly orchestrate a musical composition with multiple layered electronic instruments. I personally developed this curriculum.
I'm a central Illinois native, being born in Bloomington-Normal, IL. I have been a performing musician since age 13 and am currently 25 years old. I love travel, photography, and I have lived in Portland, OR. I started as a guitar player at age 11 but transitioned to a songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist musician. I have extensive music theory knowledge through my years of student teaching and now professionally instructing at three different institutions. I have written, recorded, and self produced 6 albums/EPs, various musical singles, and have been a performing musician for 10 years. In addition to being a composer, producer, and musician I have extensive sound design experience for both video and audio productions. I have experience with working in surround sound environments and have learned / have built speakers and other various audio playback devices. I am an avid traveller and love photography!
